Sharing video
From Phanfare Support
You can use Phanfare Photo to put videos in your Phanfare albums, just like you add photos. However, there are a few differences in the way that Phanfare treats photos and videos.
- You can not order prints of videos.
- You can not use a video as a featured image on your Table of Contents.
When you import a video into Phanfare, the first frame of it is extracted and displayed on your web site.
The full video can not be played on the web until the entire video has uploaded.
If you use Microsoft Windows
Phanfare Photo tells you at a glance whether your video has fully uploaded. An upload icon will appear when the video is ready to be viewed on your Web site. The bottom navigation bar will also read "Website: Up to date."
If you use a Mac
Phanfare Photo for the Mac also indicates via icons and text labels whether your video has finished uploading.
Conversion to Macromedia Flash
We convert video to Macromedia Flash to improve the compatibility for viewers. Your friends won't need to worry about whether they have the latest Quicktime or Windows Media viewer installed as long as they have a Flash player (and most people do).
If you or your friends need the Flash player, you can click the following URL to get the standalone Flash Player 8 installer:
http://www.macromedia.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_msi
Click Run. Then after it downloads, close all your web browsers and click Run again on the next window that comes up. This will install Flash Player 8. Re-launch a browser and you should be all set.
You will still be able to access the original video as uploaded via the Download Original link near the top left of each video on the web.
Flash video conversion works in the background. Hence, your video will go through 3 stages on your Phanfare website. First, it will show up just as a still preview; then it will show up in the original format; finally, once conversion to Flash has occurred, the Flash version will be the default format on your website.
