Phanfare Support Site

Setting the featured image

From Phanfare Support

Along with your list of albums, Phanfare features at least one image from one of your albums on your Table of Contents page (as shown below). By default, Phanfare selects a photo at random from any album within the current year to feature every time someone visits your page. This means the featured image is likely to be different every time someone visits your page.

You have two options if you would like to change the default setting:

  • You can opt to have Phanfare select a photo at random to feature only from the newest album on your site
  • You can select a fixed set of images (one or more) that you would like to use as featured images on the site. How many images you can feature depends on the number of albums you have listed on your Table of Contents page. Phanfare adds additional featured images as needed to balance the right side and left side of the Table of Contents Page. For example, if you have five albums, you will only have one featured image that you can set. However, if you have 20 albums, you will have more featured images you can select for your Table of Contents page.

Please note that the featured image in any year must be a photo in an album from that year. For example, the featured image on your 2007 Table of Contents page (your main site) must be an image in an album in 2007.

If you use Microsoft Windows

To change the default setting, go to "Share" on the Phanfare Photo menu and select “Website Options.” Select the “Table of Contents Images” tab. Choose the setting you would like.

  • If you want Phanfare to select a photo at random from your newest album, choose “Random from newest album” and hit “OK.”
  • If you want to designate a specific image to be featured, there are two key steps.
    • 1) Choose “Images that I select.” Then, in the “Selected Images Order” section of the box, indicate the year the image is from. Hit “OK.”
    • 2) To actually select the image you want to feature, you must go to the Image in Phanfare Photo, right-click on the image, and select “Show in Table of Contents” and "As large image" (shown below).

Once you have completed the second step, you can go back to "Share" on Phanfare Photo menu, select “Website Options”, go to the “Table of Contents Images” tab and see that the photo you have selected is there. You can also choose to remove this photo as your featured photo, if desired (as shown below).

  • 2) Second, you must open the album in Phanfare Photo where the image you want to feature resides. Then right-click on the image and select "Show in Table of Contents" and "As large image" (as shown below). That photo is now a featured image. You can check this by going back to "Website Options" and the "Table of Contents" tab and seeing if the image appears in your selected image box. If you have more than one image in the box for any given year, you can use the buttons to the right of the box to arrange them or delete them.
