EXIF is the Exchangeable Image Format standard that dictates how information about an image can be embedded in the JPEG image itself. Most modern digital cameras insert certain information like the date the picture was taken, the shutter speed, ISO and aperture settings, and whether a flash was used to name a few. Phanfare Photo preserves EXIF data on import. After importing an image, right-click the thumbnail and choose "Properties" followed by the "EXIF" tab. All the EXIF information for the image is displayed. In fact, Phanfare Photo sets the taken date of the image to the EXIF date in the JPEG so that it is always accurate.

You can easily view this EXIF information using Phanfare.

Phanfare supports auto-captioning of images based on EXIF data.
