Changing album layout

From Phanfare Support

You can currently choose one of two ways to display the photos and videos in your albums.

Table of contents

Layout styles

Default Layout

The default layout displays the thumbnails of your photos and videos on the left side of your album page with one medium-sized image displayed on the right side of the page. Visitors can click on any of the thumbnails on the left to see the medium-sized picture displayed on the right. They can scroll through all the photos/videos in your album by using the arrows above the medium-sized picture, or they can then click the medium-sized photo/video to see the full-screen version. Additional features appear in the right hand box. The image being shown automatically resizes to fit your browser screen.

To gain additional screen real estate, you can hide the right hand menu. If the right hand options menu is hidden, then the options for the image and the album appear over the image as a context menu when you hover over the image.

You can control whether to show the right hand option menu on all albums through the Windows version of Phanfare, or MyPhanfare, the lightweight web-based administration version. In the future, you will also be able to control whether the right hand option menu appears from within the Mac downloadable organizer as well.

Alternative layout

In the alternative layout, visitors to your album will see the thumbnails of each of your photos and videos. To view the full-screen (700 pixels wide/tall) display of your photos or videos, visitors have two options.

  1. They can click on any one of the thumbnails and the full-screen photo or video will appear. They can then use the arrows above (or below) each displayed photo/video to view the other photos/videos in the album.
  2. They can choose the “Start Slideshow” link in the Album Options menu on the right side of the page and sit back and relax as a slideshow of all the photos in your album plays on their screen. Visitors can speed up, slow down, pause, rewind, and otherwise control the slideshow by right clicking on a photo when the slideshow is playing.

You can also change your album layout by going to Edit in the Phanfare Photo menu and selecting “Change Album Style” or by right-clicking the album name in your list of Albums on the left side of the application and choosing “Change Album Style.”

If you use a Mac

To change the layout of a particular album, click on Style in the bottom toolbar:

Now, uncheck the box to prevent inheriting the layout from the table of contents. The default layout is the hybrid one with both thumbs and an image. You can change the layout to the proof-sheet one which shows each image as a thumb in its original aspect ratio.
