- Double click the thumbnail of the photo you wish to caption.
- In the photo editing screen that appears, add a caption in the text field labeled "Caption".

Add captions using the image properties screen (photos and videos)
- Open the Phanfare application and choose an album containing a photo you wish to caption.
- Right-click the thumbnail of the photo or video you wish to caption and select "Properties".
- In the properties screen that appears, add a caption in the text field labeled "Caption".
- Press "OK".
Add captions with the turbo-caption (photos and videos)
This is the fastest way to write captions when you want to add captions to more than one photo or video.
- Open the Phanfare application and choose an album containing photos you wish to caption.
- Select the "Tools -> Caption Images..." menu, or press the "Caption images" button in the toolbar, or press F2. (If the Caption button isn't visible on the toolbar, stretch the application window to make it wider.)
- In the screen that comes up, enter text next to each photo or video that you want to add a caption to.
- Use the tab key to quickly move between items. (Press Shift and Tab at the same time to move backwards.)
- Press "Save".
Note: You can use turbo-caption on a subset of the photos and videos in an album by highlighting just the items you are interested in before selecting the "Caption Images..." menu.
Tell at a glance whether a photo or video has a caption
You can tell whether you have captioned a particular photo or video by looking for the caption icon at the top left of each thumbnail in your albums. And you can view the caption by hovering your mouse over the thumbnail for one second. An information bubble appears with the filename, caption if present, and date of photo, if known.
